I made my first flat pack aged 11.
Growing up I always had a wise elder to consult, but Little Miss Stubborn wouldn’t ask her dad for a strong helping hand. So, the screws were never flush. I guess my perfectionist streak was still to come!
25 years outside the UK has had a lasting effect on me – architecture, culture, climate and cuisine.
I have pitched my tent in a lot of lovely places around the world – well, that’s not quite true, I’ve never been camping, because I like my travels to be very comfortable!
So why did I choose Allspice as a name? I remember the astonishing list of ingredients in my mother’s Christmas pudding – one of which was Allspice. The puzzling name has always stuck with me.
I’m not a baker and I don’t have a sweet tooth, but I couldn’t live without spice. And the spicier the better.
Transformation is the Goal
Sophisticated Allspice evokes cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger and peppercorns. Just as a combination of different flavours and sensations transform a dish, it’s the same with every property. The best outcome comes from cherry-picking the choice aspects of all the options – potential build, a redesign, redecorating or decluttering. Big transformations can sometimes come from small actions.
